The Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF) is the largest Indian Central Armed Police Force. It is under the supervision of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the Government of India. The CRPF's primary role is to aid the State and Union Territory in the execution of police operations to keep peace and security as well as combat insurgency. It was founded as the Crown Representative's Police on the 27th of July 1939. After Indian Independence, it was renamed its own Central Reserve Police Force on enactment of the CRPF Act on 28 December 1949.

Alongside law and order as well as counter-insurgency responsibilities and counter-insurgency to the counter-insurgency mission, the CRPF is playing an increasingly important role in India's general elections. This is especially true for this once-proud and proud state Jammu along with Kashmir, Bihar and in the North East, in which there is a lot of chaos and violence. When the elections for the Parliament were held in September 1999, the CRPF played a significant role as a security force. In recent times, CRPF contingents are also being assigned into UN missions.
